The Ghana Minister of Sport and Recreation.

On February 4, 2025, Ghana's Parliament officially approved the appointment of Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams as the new Minister of Sports and Recreation. This decision follows his nomination by President John Dramani Mahama in January and a subsequent vetting process by the Appointments Committee of Parliament.

Hon. Adams, who has been serving as the Member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency since 2021, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. During his vetting, he emphasized the need for increased funding across various sports disciplines and expressed a commitment to supporting underfunded sectors within Ghana's sports industry.

As he steps into this role, Hon. Adams is expected to address several pressing challenges, including the improvement of sports infrastructure, securing adequate funding for national teams, and enhancing Ghana's performance in major international tournaments. He succeeds Mustapha Ussif, who served as Minister of Sports and Recreation from 2021 to 2025.

The sports community and the nation at large are optimistic that Hon. Adams will bring fresh perspectives and dedicated leadership to rejuvenate Ghana's sports sector. His tenure is anticipated to usher in strategies that will not only enhance the country's sports culture but also improve performance on both local and international stages.

As he prepares to be sworn in by President Mahama, stakeholders are eager to see the initiatives and policies that Hon. Adams will implement to advance Ghanaian sports and recreation
